Collen Steamer is a Chartered Engineer (ECUK) and a certified Project Manager (Prince2 Professional) with over 25 years of expertise in construction, project, and contract management. His career has been dedicated to projects that drive social, cultural, environmental, and economic value, emphasizing a commitment to creating sustainable impact through effective leadership and meticulous planning. Collen’s journey spans diverse roles in local and international public and private sectors, where he has led teams and projects across Zimbabwe, the UK, and Australia.
In addition to an illustrious career in civil engineering, Collen is also an entrepreneur and investor with interests in construction, renewables, health, technology and digital assets. Collen is always available to discuss business opportunities including acquisitions, partnerships, equity and capital raising.
From humble beginnings, Collen grew up as the eldest in a family of six in a rural Zimbabwean village, where he developed a strong work ethic and leadership mindset early on. At Gokomere High School, he was appointed Head Boy, a role that reinforced his commitment to service and personal growth. His university years saw him elected to student leadership, experiences that laid the groundwork for his future career in project leadership and engineering. Collen’s educational path continued with a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering (Honors) from the University of Zimbabwe, followed by an MBA from the Australian Institute of Business.
Collen’s professional journey includes key positions with notable consultancies such as Mouchel, GHD, and Scott Wilson Group, as well as contractor Service Stream. He also served on the client side with the Mid West Port Authority and Main Roads Western Australia, handling significant projects that refined his expertise in project planning, risk management, and cross-functional leadership. Collen’s multidisciplinary approach has been instrumental in the founding of his own business, Gomani Projects, which reflects his vision of fostering positive change through sustainable project development.
Collen is happily married to his wife, Betty, and together they have two adult sons. He enjoys spending weekends on the golf course with family and friends and is always on the lookout for new business ventures that align with his core values of environmental stewardship and community enhancement.
